What happened

ASIC has banned Nicole Niu (FA Number 000446207), a former financial adviser at MWL Financial Services Pty Ltd, from providing financial services for 5 years, effective 22 January 2026.

Grounds for the ban

ASIC found that Nicole Niu gave inappropriate advice by recommending clients move most of their superannuation into the Shield Master Fund. ASIC identified two key problems with that advice:

Tribunal challenge withdrawn

Nicole Niu lodged an application with the Administrative Review Tribunal on 22 January 2026 to challenge the ban. She withdrew that application on 3 July 2026, meaning the 5-year ban stands.

Status of MWL Financial Services

MWL Financial Services Pty Ltd has been wound up. Liquidators Daniel Juratowitch and Rachel Burdett of Cor Cordis were appointed on 21 November 2025. ASIC cancelled MWL's licence on 25 August 2025.
