Overview

ASIC cancelled the Australian financial services (AFS) licence of Trive Financial Services Australia Pty Ltd (AFS licence number 424122), effective 1 July 2026. The cancellation was made under section 915B(3)(a) of the Corporations Act 2001.

Reason for cancellation

The cancellation was made on the basis that Trive was no longer carrying on a financial services business in Australia.

Background

In April 2025, Trive had already agreed to stop taking on new clients after ASIC identified serious deficiencies in some of its processes during an industry-wide review of 52 licensed CFD issuers.

The company was previously known as ILQ Australia Pty Ltd (until July 2018) and Fairmarkets Trading Pty Ltd (until December 2023).

Broader CFD sector review

ASIC's broader CFD sector review was announced in January 2026. That review resulted in nearly $40 million being returned to more than 38,000 retail investors.

Review rights

Trive can apply to the Administrative Review Tribunal to challenge the cancellation decision.
