What has changed
The Australian Taxation Office has withdrawn Product Ruling PR 2025/4, which covered the income tax treatment of benefits received by Commonwealth Bank customers through the CommBank Yello loyalty program. The withdrawal takes effect on 30 September 2026.
Which ruling applies and when
PR 2025/4 still applies to CommBank Yello benefits received between 4 June 2025 and 30 September 2026. From 1 October 2026, CommBank Yello operates under new terms and conditions. A new ruling - PR 2026/18 - covers the income tax consequences for customers from 1 October 2026 through to 30 June 2029.
