What this determination covers
The Defence Determination, Conditions of Service Amendment Determination (No. 5) 2025 amended the conditions of service rules that apply to Australian Defence Force personnel. It was made under the Defence Act 1903.
Changes made
The determination addressed three areas:
- Army OAPS (Overseas Accompanied Posting Scheme) - changes to the rules governing overseas accompanied postings for Army personnel.
- Hardship location allowances - amendments to allowances for personnel stationed at hardship locations.
- Miscellaneous conditions and transitional provisions - other conditions of service updates and provisions managing the transition to the new rules.
Dates
The determination came into force on 6 May 2025. The determination has since been repealed and ceased to be in force on 14 July 2026.
Scope
This determination applies to Australian Defence Force personnel and is administered by the Department of Defence. It does not apply to civilian businesses or their employees.
