What this variation does
Food Standards Australia New Zealand (FSANZ) has approved a variation to the Food Standards Code under Application A1339. The variation permits five specific human milk oligosaccharides - 2'-FL, 3-FL, LNT, 3'-SL and 6'-SL - produced from the bacterial strain Escherichia coli BL21 to be used as nutritive substances in infant formula products.
Effective date
This rule came into force on 28 August 2026.
