What this instrument does
The Taxation (Multinational—Global and Domestic Minimum Tax) Amendment (2026 Measures No. 2) Rules 2026 is a technical update to the detailed rules underpinning Australia's global and domestic minimum tax rules for very large multinational corporate groups.
The amendment fine-tunes how certain calculations and safe harbours work, including for joint ventures, investment entities, permanent establishments and stateless entities. It also pushes back some transitional dates by a year.
Who this applies to
This only applies to large multinational enterprise groups covered by the Taxation (Multinational-Global and Domestic Minimum Tax) Act 2024, which in practice means groups with very large global revenue, not ordinary Australian small or medium businesses.
Timing
The rules applied from 1 July 2026. The instrument itself is now shown as no longer in force, having applied between 1 July 2026 and 12 October 2026.
Key actions
