Overview
The federal government has registered the Private Health Insurance Legislation Amendment Rules (No. 4) 2026 on 12 June 2026. The instrument makes minor technical amendments to two sets of private health insurance rules under the Private Health Insurance Act 2007.
What the rules change
The amendments update the following definitions and classifications used in complying private health insurance products:
- Clinical categories
- Common treatments
- Support treatments
- Procedure types
The two instruments affected are the Private Health Insurance (Complying Product) Rules 2015 and the Private Health Insurance (Benefit Requirements) Rules 2011.
