What happened
The Queensland Building and Construction Commission (QBCC) conducted a compliance audit across 50 active building sites in the Maryborough region, completing more than 130 licence checks.
What the audit found
The audit identified three suspected breaches:
- Two individuals suspected of performing unlicensed building work
- One licensed tradesperson suspected of engaging an unlicensed person to carry out work
All three cases are now under investigation.
Broader 2025 audit results
QBCC audits conducted across 2025 recorded a non-compliance rate of less than 1%. The regulator has stated it will take strong action against deliberate or repeat breaches.
