What happened
The Queensland Building and Construction Commission (QBCC) launched an internal team called the Rapid Assess and Triage Team (RATT) in March 2026 to speed up licence processing.
What RATT has done
Between March and May 2026, RATT finalised almost 1,000 applications that were sitting decision-ready in queues. Average processing times for those applications were cut to under 10 days.
The team also contacts applicants early to request missing information or confirm outcomes, so applicants are not left waiting without updates.
Current processing times
Across all 80-odd QBCC licence types, the overall average processing time is currently 25 days, against a 30-day target.
