Overview
The Queensland Building and Construction Commission (QBCC) has published a summary of service improvements made over the past 12 months in response to feedback from home owners, licensees and industry stakeholders.
Dispute resolution
The QBCC has expanded its Mediation and Conciliation service. The expanded service resolves 70% of suitable disputes, with resolution achieved within an average of 32 days.
Reduced financial reporting obligations
Annual financial reporting obligations have been removed for approximately 50,000 licensees. Licensees can confirm their current obligations at qbcc.qld.gov.au.
Digital licences
More than 12,000 digital licences have been issued. Over 40% of licence applications are now submitted electronically.
Home Owner Hub
The QBCC launched a Home Owner Hub in July 2025, available at qbcc.qld.gov.au.
Compliance and audit activity
The QBCC has introduced location-based heat-mapping tools to target site audits. During 2025-26, the QBCC conducted more than 1,600 proactive building inspections and more than 1,100 site visits. More than 610,000 consumer searches have been conducted using the QBCC licence search tool.
