What has changed
The Queensland Government has expanded the Stronger Homes Grant to cover homeowners affected by two specific 2025 flood events:
- The Western Queensland Surface Trough and Associated Rainfall and Flooding event
- The Queensland Monsoon Trough, Cyclone Koji, Cyclone Narelle and Severe Weather event that started on 24 December 2025
Grant amount
Eligible homeowners can apply for up to $10,000 to fund approved flood-resilience work.
Covered work
The grant covers the following types of work:
- Raising appliances and electrical infrastructure
- Separating electrical circuits between levels
- Replacing flooring with flood-resilient materials such as polished timber, sealed concrete or water-resistant tiles
- Replacing plasterboard walls with fibre cement sheets
- Painting stud work with mould-resistant paint
- Preliminary design work by qualified professionals, including architectural and structural engineering documentation, geotechnical testing, site surveys, town planning advice and building certification
Licensed contractors
The QBCC requires licensed contractors for all property work carried out under the grant.
